juice fast

This morning when I woke up I thought 'Today would be a perfect day for a juice fast!'  Not only is it super good for you, but now I don't have to cook today!

Since I'm sure not everyone knows all about juicing I thought I'd share the process, and a little about the benefits of juicing!

Let's start with some benefits:
  • You can drink more veggies than you can eat.
  • By juicing the veggies (and fruit) you are making the nutrients in them more easy to absorb, so you are getting more from them.
  • Your body doesn't have to work to break down the juice, so it can focus on making you healthier!
Excited?! You should be! Now let's have a look at my juicer.

Ain't she a beauty!  It's an 'Angel' juicer.  It's pretty expensive, but I'd argue that it's the best one out there.  It's all stainless steel, it grinds slowly (doesn't heat the juice), and you seriously get every drop of juice out of your produce!

This morning I did a green juice (Kale, Celery, Apple and Lemon).  I'll probably do a Carrot mix of some sort later.  Here is my produce all ready to go.  I leave the skin and rinds on.

Here's an action shot... it just sucks up those leafy greens!

And here is what you are left with.  Delicious fresh juice and some really dry fiberous matter (which ends up mixed in with my dogs food, or in the compost)

A quick clean up!  It seriously takes like 2 minutes.

I dilute my juices about 70% juice to 30% filtered water.  Some people prefer a 50/50 ratio.  Mix and enjoy!

It's best to drink it right away, but if you have extra seal it tight and keep in in the fridge.  It will oxidize as it sits, and lose it's goodness, so don't wait too long!  What I juiced today (after being diluted) made about two 16oz glasses and cost about $4!  AND it's all organic!!!

  1. I found you through the Trendy Treehouse Follow Me Friday Party. I am now your newest GFC follower. I would be so delighted if you would link this post (or any others which fit the theme - which I came across several on your blog) to Spa{ahhh} Sundaze. I am also going to pin this post. :)

  2. I just came across this post from Pinterest. My husband and I are getting ready to start our first juice fast after watching Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead. I've been trying to gather some good recipes and grocery lists for beginners. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Our three year old will also be drinking some of the juice (so they need to be tasty enough for him), but he will continue on with regular meals.
